| There is some abilities that can only be acquired through experience. Graphic Marketing is one of them. As a designer of marketing communications for the past 30 years I have worked with many industries and products ranging from pharmaceutical, financial, high tech, travel and consumer products to name a few. I have learned to distill an idea, product or theme down to it's simplest form, then to build a concept or layout back up using a visual language (colors, images, typography) that draws on feelings, emotions, or experiences of the intended audience. Simply put, I think people want to learn and look at things in new ways. The goal in design is to make the learning process interesting.
As a graduate from Tyler School of art in 1980 I was taught that a strong concept along with strong execution can create a powerful message. And this message can encourage people to think, feel or act in particular ways. In a time when promotional messages are almost everywhere we look, putting out an appropriate and exciting visual message is more important than ever. As a result, the importance of design and marketing is more important than ever. To gain recognition, everything from large corporations to individuals need to be branded. My experience in the industry ranges from a designer, art director and assistant creative director for a Philadelphia based design firm from 1980-1997. While employed there I designed and produced everything from annual report, corporate identity, advertising, trade show exhibits and direct mail. From 1997 to the present I have owned and operated AXIS visual, a design firm specializing in creative solutions for the marketing communications industry. My ultimate goal? To design everything. |
