| An illustration says a thousand words.
Mia Jung, 26, has passionately followed the yellow brick road and now, just when she thought that life would hand to her first big break, she’s run into the wicked witch of reality. Mia achieved her bachelor of arts in communications designs in South Korea and masters in graphic design from Britain’s top tenth ranking school, Loughborough. The recession restrains fresh new talent such as Mia from obtaining what is rightfully theirs. It’s time that we acknowledge the ones to watch in the UK and find out what they have in store for our design generation. WHAT …prompted you to study communications and graphic design? I wanted to learn how to communicate to the mass in the easiest and most effective way possible… to send out a message using illustrations. A picture says a thousand words. Why not the same for graphics? …is your message to the world? Me. (laughs) No, but seriously, I want to tell the story of everyday lives. You, me and that girl (points to a passerby). It’s the story of the human species. …do you want to do before you die? I know this is going to sound lame… but I’ve done everything that I’ve wanted to do so far in life. My current stage in life right now is a part of many small dreams that I previously had… and now it’s time to dream new ones. And then I’ll pick up from there. I’m constantly doing something. I never look too far into the future but make plans and goals for the near future. I accomplish by taking small steps. And that works for me. …is the one thing you tell yourself when all hope is lost? Dream of a dream. And then believe it. Interviewed by Hong October 2009 |
