My artistic career began at the age of 8 with a trumpet and a strong love for music and performing. At 10, I wrote and recorded my first song, realizing that song and voice were more true to my passions. After being adopted by a family on the east coast, I packed up my bags and started a new life. Although I wanted to continue the trumpet, the only option for me was the sting bass or viola. Being a woman of small stature, I chose the viola. Throughout my teen years and into my early twenties, all of my focus was in music performance. While in high school, I attended the Governor’s School for the Arts and continued my music education into college at the University of Cincinnati (CCM)- all the while pursuing the dream of being a classical violist in a big symphony. In March 2007, an injury to two of my fingers left me temporarily unable to continue music . With my husband's acceptance into the University of Rochester as a PHD candidate, I decided to transfer as a history major. Although I had always considered myself a one-dimensional artist, a chance opportunity at taking a 3D art class through the University of Rochester changed my entire career and opened up limitless possibilities.
During my two years in the art program, I grew profoundly as an artist, understanding the value of art in concept, theory, and practice. After completing my thesis show in May entitled Masquerade, I graduated in May 2009 from the University of Rochester cum laude with a degree in modern Chinese history and studio art, focusing on sculpture and installation with unconventional, recycled materials, and found objects. Upon graduation, I accepted a job in puppetry design, building, and performance with the Renaissance Artist Puppet Company in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Currently, I am a freelance artist and musician based out of Cincinnati.
