Soon after I was born in 1976, my parents moved from Hopewell, VA, to South Carolina. My father was a pastor then and this had a profound effect on my beliefs and thought process. Our family settled down in an area between Greenville and Anderson, SC. This rural area, where I could be outdoors exploring all day long, inspired the creative side within me.
During my high school years, I had the pleasure of being selected to study in the Fine Art Center in Greenville, SC. This was a very positive time for me, as it shaped much of what I understand about art and set a firm foundation for my understanding of design, composition and texture. I learned to bind books, make prints, work in clay, and do so much more.
Following high school, I studied Graphic Design at Anderson College but did not complete the degree. However, the education that I did receive there pushed me in new and exciting directions. I left college and entered the work force not understanding then how the experiences would shape my understanding of art and thought.
In the winter of 2008 after moving to Wake Forest, NC, I became involved with the local art community and started to pursue my career in Art. My current focus is on still life drawings and mixed media abstracts as well as religious art.
