 What clients/projects are you currently working on?
I'm currently working for JAKKS Pacific Toy company in Malibu, CA doing product presentations for new toys. I love this work! Typically it involves illustrating a new toy, and a child playing with the toy.
I'm also working on two short animations for a client that is shopping a concept for a kid's TV Show.
Also, a children's book, a logo design and self promotion.
Your style is classic, do you prefer traditional or digital illustration?
I did airbrush illustrations for ten years. My clients were Disney, Warner Bros. Mattel, Milton Bradley, etc. In 1995 I switched to working digitally. I've been fascinated ever since with all the possibilities that working with a computer can bring to bare. It has certainly broadened my horizons. I'm also editing video in Final Cut Pro and recording music with Logic Pro.
What was the most enjoyable job you've worked on?
I really love designing cartoon characters. I've been very lucky since much of what I do revolves around creating cartoon characters for toy companies, ad agencies and children's publishers. So, any job involving character development is my favorite job ever!
Have you ever had any horror stories with any clients?
Yes...
What would you do if you could never illustrate again?
I'm also a musician. I play gigs and records projects for clients in my recording studio several times a week. I would do more of that, but please don't take my illustration work away. I'd miss it too much!!
What are your plans for the future?
I just want to keep doing what I do. I make a good living and don't want for too much. Life is good... life is very good.
