| Catarina Claeson is an independent illustrator professional who, believe it or not, has science background. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and moved to New York City in 2003 to study illustration at Parsons School of Design.
Despite a strong interest in many different areas in her life, she always knew she was going to become an artist sooner or later. Catarina has always believed in the possibility of making a living out of being an artist. What you really need is: Passion, Patience and Persistence. She strongly believes artists need knowledge, information and various impressions in order to stimulate creativity. Technical skill is not enough. Catarina has always had a tendency to see patterns in many aspects of life. This has, of course, translated into her artwork. She has also been told her art has a minimalist Scandinavian touch to it, yet well thought of regarding color, shape and composition. The current artwork consists of pattern designs and illustrations available for sale and licensing. Moreover, an artist's work is always under constant development and changes over time. Everything one sees, hears and experiences will have an influence on the artwork. Anyone who knows Catarina personally, knows she is not keen on classifying herself whether it is about personality or artistic development. Catarina currently lives and works in New York City. She has been working for an accessory company on regular freelance basis the past two years. Besides, she has done freelance work for other clients, including New York University, CitiHabitats and Reader's Digest Association. She recently had work represented at Printsource trade show in New York. Later, she will have more work represented at the big trade show Surtex, where people sell and license artwork. |
